The Hebrew Hammer and the Left Arm of God. Greenberg and Koufax put Jewish athletes on the map in the U.S. Both were proud of their heritage and proud to put their faith first, even famously sitting out critical games to observe the Yom Kippur high holiday. Greenberg, who gave four years in the prime of his career to service in WWII, once said of his Judaism: "I came to feel that if I, as a Jew, hit a home run, I was hitting one against Hitler." As hard as it may be to believe, we have never seen any item signed exclusively by Hank and Sandy—not a bat, not a ball, not a photo. Nothing. Neither man was a frequent public signer or show attendee prior to Greenberg's death in 1986. Yet this bat hails from the estate of collector Larry Shane, who had an ongoing relationship with Greenberg at the time. The Cooperstown Bat Co. Hall of Fame bat showcases NM condition and Sharpie "8-9" signatures. Full LOA from JSA.
